Products sold at the market are of a high standard and need to be consistent from week to week. The Market also likes producers to be reliable - that means coming to market regularly. In return the Market will give you an income ( small at first, but hopefully growing) and we hope you will find companionship and an opportunity to tap into a wealth of knowledge that is generously shared.
Its not difficult or expensive to join us as a producer.
The first thing to do is to visit the market to have an informal chat with the Market Manager about joining us. Come along and have a drink and soak up the atmosphere whilst discussing your product and finding out how the market works in practice.
Once you have decided to give it a try, and the manager is satisfied with the quality of your product you will be asked to buy a handbook of the rules and to give 5 pence to become a shareholder. At the next committee meeting your membership will be considered.
If you are going to be a food producer you will need to have a current Level 2 Food Safety Certificate. Advice about sourcing this is available at the market.
Skill and imagination are all you need to become a craft producer at the market,
